Japanese-inspired Baked Egg Toast • Solozaur Cooking

Japanese-inspired Baked Egg Toast

These baked egg toasts were very popular in Japan when I visited so naturally I wanted to replicate them at home. They are really and i mean REALLY easy to cook, which makes them the perfect lazy weekend morning food.

Japanese-inspired Baked Egg Toast

A quick & easy egg toast for those lazy mornings
Servings 2
Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 slices white bread / milk bread / any soft square bread you have
  • 1 medium egg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp cracked black pepper
  • 30 g cheddar cheese grated

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to broil at 170°C (340°F). Without waiting for the oven to fully preheat, place two slices of bread on a baking tray and position it on the second rack from the top, closest to the broiler. Toast the bread for about 4 minutes, flipping it halfway through for even toasting.
  • Meanwhile, whisk together the egg, salt & pepper then grate the cheese in and mix together with a fork
  • Remove the lightly toasted bread from the oven and evenly spread the mixture on top. Return the tray to the oven and cook for 10-12 minutes, or until the egg is fully set.
