Hello. I’m Alex aka Solozaur
A self-taught home cook & filmmaker passionate about food that looks & tastes good. And, when possible, doesn’t break the calorie bank
Story behind this cooking channel
I’ll be honest, cooking is something I’ve picked up out of necessity. I have been overweight all my life and one day I finally realized that it couldn’t go on for ever. I needed to lose weight but I couldn’t just switch to eating “diet” food. I tried it but it made me feel miserable. So I had to teach myself how to cook in order to be able to control what and how much goes into my food as well as not sacrificing too much on the flavor side.
My cooking knowledge has been accumulated over a long span of time through mostly resources in video form. Such as Alton Brown’s Serious Eats, Chef John’s Foodwishes YouTube channel plus a lot of other channels such as Kenji Lopez-alt, Joshua Weissman, Ethan Chlebowski and, Stephen Cusato’s NOT ANOTHER COOKING SHOW
Stephen has on his channel an hour-long masterclass on his gear and process of creating his vidoes. That served as the perfect spark to finally push me to start creating video content on my own YouTube channel, Solozaur Cookin’.
